Make a Touro weekend of it!
As many Touro regulars have discovered, the Borders is an undiscovered gem for spending some quality tourist time – a lot of riders already stay a few extra days in the area and make the most of their trip here.
Though Peebles is less than an hour’s drive from the centre of Edinburgh, that’s not the important attraction. Our local patch has so much to offer without heading to the city, so to kick off, here’s some ideas for how to enjoy the most of the Touro weekend.
We’re delighted to be working with local, award-winning tour guide Tweed Valley Blogger, better known to us as Stewart Wilson. His passion for the Scottish Borders, local knowledge, story-telling and warm welcome radiate in his writing, social posts and on his tours. You won’t find a better source of advice on the best places to eat, visit and relax, and Stewart has put together a hit-list especially for Touro riders – just click the link and start planning!
‘Make a Touro weekend of it’
Don’t forget to register early on Saturday and take the time to explore some ‘must sees’ a little further afield. Peebles Highland Games are also on Saturday afternoon, a great mix of Borders and Highlands in Haylodge Park – a short walk from the Touro HQ.
And once you’ve discovered how good the Borders are, Stewart has five more areas to explore and discover on a return visit or extended stay…
We’ll let Stewart explain: “Tour O The Borders has been bringing people to our region for years, with riders enjoying great hospitality and the stunning hill views of the sportive route. But the truth is, a trip to Touro only scratches the surface of what the Borders has to offer.

This is a huge and varied region with big landscapes, layered history and a warm welcome – all the richness of the Highlands, just with fewer visitors and more space to breathe. After Touro and Peebles have charmed you, there are five other hubs where you can delve deeper into what makes the South of Scotland so special.”
