Riding together against cancer

Tour O The Borders is joining forces with Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 campaign to support the fight against cancer.

Sunday 7 September 2025 is a big day for road cycling in Scotland, with not only Tour O The Borders, but also Sir Chris Hoy’s Tour de 4 event encouraging thousands of people to ride together against cancer.

Having two huge public participation rides like this on at the same time is a momentous occasion for Scotland’s cycling community, and for riders with every level of motivation or experience.

Most importantly, together we can provide a huge amount of support for this, the most important of causes, by riding and raising money for cancer charities across the UK.

Both these events are road cycling sportives, and both will raise money for a cause far too close to many of our hearts – but they are also significantly different. The two events cater, more or less, for different types of cyclists – with Tour O The Borders better suited to those looking for a closed road cycling experience or seeking a more challenging day.

For Tour de 4, there’s a different emphasis, as they explain: “We aim to offer a ride for anyone living with cancer and those who have been closely affected by it. We have 4 different rides to suit varying levels of health and ability.

“Tour de 4 is not a competitive or timed event, but one that aims to bring a community together to raise awareness of Stage 4 cancer and raise as much money as possible for cancer charities across the UK.”

By working together, we’re sure Touro can play a big part in helping this project and make a memorable day out for the UK cycling community.

More on this from the Tour de 4 team:

“If you’re a more experienced cyclist or looking for a challenging ride on some of Scotland’s most picturesque roads, with a fully closed road route, we encourage you to consider Tour O The Borders – happening on the same day as Tour de 4.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Tour O The Borders and share that participants of their event can fundraise for Tour de 4’s nominated charities in completing their 120km or 88km rides.”

Tour O The Borders is proud to be working with the Tour de 4 team and Sir Chris to make this a very special day for Scottish road cycling, and for our community’s contribution to cancer charity fundraising.
